Skomer Island is a National Nature Reserve a short distance off the coast of Pembrokeshire near Marloes. Martins Haven is the nearest landing and boats leave regularly in the summer to cross Jack Sound taking visitors across to the island for the day. Sailings take up to 50 people at a time and start about 10 in the morning. Bookings are on a first come first served basis and it can be very busy when the weather is good so an early start is needed.
Nolton Haven is about 20 mins from the boat at Martins Haven and is ideal as a base from which to get to Skomer, along with the nearby Skokholm. On arrival at the island you will find Guillemots, Razorbills and Puffins in their thousands circling the bay, fishing and nesting on the cliffs. When the chicks have hatched you will see Puffins bringing in sandeels to feed them.
